I somehow had a feeling I would like Oman. It’s a beautiful country and compared to UAE, very modest. It has an amazing Mosque and a great Corniche along the harbor.  The capital Muskat is quiet and a good way to understand the muslim culture. 

We had a nice cool drink in the Bazaar. There was a very provocatively dressed English woman who would stand out even in NY. But in the small capital of Muskat it was like she was the center of attention for the whole city. In contrast, my wife wore a headscarf.
