Before taking the plunge to my first startup, I figured it would be a good chance to travel the world again. I went with James through some of Africa and the Middle East. South Africa was great. We rented a car and learned quickly how to drive on the “wrong” side of the road. 

We flew in Johannesburg. Someone told us if we walked around the city with our backpacks looking for a hotel we would definitely be robbed – not maybe, definitely. We decided to stay outside of the city in a cool hostel.
