This was an interesting trip because I visited Romania with a student from Tuebingen while I was studying there who was also from Romania. Her family was of German ancestry so she was able to move to Germany and study there. It was interesting being in Communist Romania with someone who had left for a better life in Germany. Once again, I unfortunately can’t find any pictures from the trip, so this represents what I remember.

We drove through the countryside on the way to the capital Bucharest. We saw signs that hailed how much the people loved Ceaușescu, the Communist dictator. He was killed a few years later.
