Traveling with someone on a long trip is a good way to know if you’re compatible. Gretchen and I took this trip after only dating for about a month. I had a pretty good idea that I wanted to marry her and a trip to Ireland confirmed it. Other than almost getting killed by being thrown off a horse, it was an amazing trip. We went in the off season which meant it was dirt cheap and no other tourists were there. 

We stayed at a B&B where the owner was big into family names. I asked him about my Grandmother’s family – Derrig – he had a big book with the County for each family name. That’s how most of the B&B experiences were – you ate breakfast with the owners and maybe other guests. I should have come up with Airbnb after that trip.
